FAR, committed in strengthening the use of human rights instruments and women’s human rights mechanisms to enhance women’s advocacy, is leading a global consultation process in Africa, Asia, Latin America and MENA to produce submissions for the Working Group on discrimination against women and girls’ forthcoming thematic report on sexual and reproductive health and rights in times of crisis and insecurity. The Working Group’s report will be presented to the Human Rights Council in 2021.
FAR, which represents women from the Global South and marginalized communities in the Global North, will prepare its submission to the Working Group once the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) formally requires contributions in mid-year. We aim our report helps to deconstruct and analyze the reciprocal relationships between crisis, gender based-violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), economic policy and SRHR services in contexts of crisis and human insecurity.
